“I guess people look at me and they think I’m a ladylike character,” Ms. Clayburgh told The New York Times in 1982. “But it’s not what I do best. I do best with characters who are coming apart at the seams.”
And another remembrance.
TCM profile. On Saturday night 6 November I watched Running with Scissors, in which Clayburgh had a role. The movie as a whole was of questionable quality, and her role was equally so, yet it was clear that she was a talented actor who could breathe life into a role. "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy was so impressed with the now character actress that he also tapped her to play the depressed adoptive mother of Augusten Burroughs in his film version of the author's best-selling memoir, "Running with Scissors" (2006) - in which she was often cited as the best thing about the depressing, bizarre film.
